How to Fix Vertical Lines on Your Outdoor TV

For issues where vertical lines are visible but the screen is still usable.

Is this article for you?

If your Sylvox outdoor TV has faint vertical lines on the screen, but you can still see the menu and use the TV normally, try the steps below first. In many cases, this can be fixed with simple settings adjustments — it may not be a hardware issue.

Step 1: Perform a Factory Reset

A factory reset often resolves temporary software glitches that can cause vertical lines.
How to do it:
  1. Press the Home button on your remote
  2. Go to Settings
  3. Select System
  4. Select About
  5. Choose Factory Reset
  6. Follow the on-screen prompts to confirm
⚠️ Note: A factory reset will erase all your settings, installed apps, and login information. You will need to set up the TV again afterward.
After the reset completes, check if the vertical lines still appear across all input sources and apps.

Step 2: Test with Different Input Sources and Cables

Sometimes vertical lines are caused by the source device (like a cable box or streaming stick) or a faulty HDMI cable — not the TV itself.
How to test:
  1. Try connecting a different device to the TV (e.g., a different streaming stick, game console, or Blu-ray player)
  2. Use a different HDMI cable if you have one available
  3. Switch between different input sources on your TV
  4. Check if the vertical lines appear on all sources, or only one
What this means:
  • If lines appear on all sources → Likely a TV issue → Continue to Step 3
  • If lines only appear on one source → The problem is with that device or cable, not the TV

Step 3: Check Picture Settings

Certain advanced picture settings can sometimes cause visual artifacts that look like vertical lines. Resetting to default settings can help.
How to check:
  1. Press the Home button on your remote
  2. Go to Settings
  3. Select Picture
  4. Change the Picture Mode to Standard or Factory Default
  5. Turn OFF these advanced features one by one and check if the lines improve:

    • Dynamic Contrast
    • Local Dimming
    • Noise Reduction
    • Motion Enhancement (if available)
After each change, pause and check if the vertical lines change or disappear.
